The richness of its fine silk threads, the artistry of its design, and the care with which its design has been executed defines the importance of this carpet woven in Kashgar under the patronage of the court. The highly stylised diamond and flowering branch motifs of this classic Turkestani design, suggests influences from both 17th and 18th century carpets of Persian Herats, Indian Mughals and Chinese Silks.
